Hmm... so today was a pretty interesting day... i played very poorly but i still managed to make some good $$ in cash games. I am super duperly dissapointed with the way I played the following 2 hands:
Im in sb with AQ, a fish limps (45% v$ip), and a everyone folds. bb is a super duper tight and straightforward player, so i obviously come in for a raise b/c i can outplay them despite being oop. I pump it to a lil over 3x-4x and they both call.
Flop: AQKr
I bet 2/3 pot
super tight guy raises me 3x..
I decide to call and see what happens on turn, b/c he could easily be raisin A-rag all the way up to AK.
fish folds.

I check
he fires 3/2 pot again... okay, here I should either
1. fold
2. call and check/fold river if he fires again
because clearly he is not betting A-rag anymore, so it was either JT, AK AQ MAYBE AJ (probably not)...... but for some reason i did not feel like laying shit down, and instead of doing anything somewhat reasonable... i decided i felt like pushing LOL...yes i know how horrible is that, at any rate i pushed, he called and and had AK
river Q!!!!!!!!!!!!! MY FIRST SUCKOUT EVER, i felt really bad for him, but thats poker and a lesson well learned by me! I think i pushed there mostly becuz this weekend i played and went very deep in a 90 persn SNG and i was still kinda in tournament mode where you just shove over a lot of bets, anyway lesson learned, we'll call that a +50$ lesson lol.
Bad hand #2:
I get AA in mid, guy to my right raises 4x, i decide to try to trap him and just cold call (mistake #1). BB calls.
Flop QQ9
bb checks
raiser fires lil more then 2/3 pot, i decide to raise and force out bb because i feel like i have the best hand. i make it 4x more. bb folds
raiser re-raises me 3x more...... I have no PT Stats on this guy, so now its straight up reading the situation. I think for a while, and I'm kind of stumped if he has a Q, because I didnt expect him to 3-bet me with an actual Q, i was expecting a call. So i decide to call putting him on KK. turn is a blank and he fires weak, 1/2 pot, so I just call (This is where I should have folded the hand......sigh), river blank, he fires SUPER small, so i call because of pot odds and he has QT lol.....
we'll call that a 30$ mistake
however, despite lotsa bad plays i ended the day up a nice sum, maybe 50ish.
After playing bad i felt very obligated to play good, so after my nightclass i took a quick stab at cash games +sngs agian..... the following hand was the highlight of my night.
I get AK UTG, i raise 3x. biigg juicy fish calls with v$ip of like 60%. everyone else folds. Flop AT3, 3 diamonds.
I fire out 2/3 the pot, he thinks for a sec and calls. Ok so he is most likely drawing, or he could have the flush.
Turn 5c
I fire 3/2 pot again, expecting a raise from sum1 with the flush and a call from someone drawing.

Anyways im back in lame school, reading week is officially over and it sucks ... the last few days were really fun cuz Amy stayed over for the weekend and we played lotsa rockband and random stuff with my family which was really fun. It sucks cuz our band now has to play 'hard' in order to get more fans, and we arent good enough to play hard lol. We had a pretty good band too my sister played drums (shes really good consideirng drums is really hard), andrew played guitar and i played bass and amy sung (shes really good at singing too, lots of 100%'s). I cant wait till next term when we get rockband in waterloo cause i know lotsa ppl that would definatly want to play!

oh ya andrew wont a 90 person sng yesturday for his FIRST EVER 1st place finish in a big tourney.

Reading week + Poker updates
I havnt blogged in a while, but its reading week now, and my friend zak who was supposed to come hang out for the week didnt drop by which kinda sucks, but thats okay because i can focus on more important things like poker!
I played cash games for the last 2 days and all i can say is...
w000t i'm running good again, i've hit more sets in the last 1.5 hrs then i had in the last 2 weeks !!! things are goin good again and my cash game session went pretty well... I made some good money grinding micro stakes, but still far from my goal of 2k.
but thats not the highlight of my day, the highlight is definatly the following:
so, andrew and i was planning on going to windsor at the end of this term (when the lectures end, we get a few weeks before exams) so we wanted to play the casino windsor monthly tournament for $500. The structure is good and allows for a pretty good amount of play for the price you pay (usually the stuctures at casinos are so crappy and only last a couple of hours, this one is made to last probably all day)... anyway turns out my last class isnt until april 7th and the tourney is on march 25th or somethin, so basically we decided not to go to it which sucks... but then andrew looked up some tournaments in calgary (becuz we are going to calgary after this terms over for a week) and he found this 'charity' tournament at Deerfoot Inn, which is featuring a bunch of big name pros playing including Antonio Esfandiari, Phil Laak, Gavin Smith, Jennifer Tilly , Brad Booth etc... so I was like thats so awesome and we decided to go there instead of Windsor now!! the thing is, the tournament is in 2 weeks (weekend of March 9th), so we quickly ordered tickets and booked our flights and now we are all set to play! I can't wait and i think its going to be an AWESOME EXPERIENCE.... being able to meet all those pros is definatly a very rare chance and I cant wait to do it... definately gonna take lots a pix and autographs!
We are right now scheduled to fly in on Friday night, then hopefully we can get some cash games in, and then on the saturday we are going to spend some time with my parents and then cash games at night again and then on sunday at about noon the tournament is going to start! I'll definatly keep ppl updated on how my trip goes!
Other then that, nothing has been going on too much in reading week, I played alot of Rock Band and it is like the funnest game to play with a group of people. I cant wait til this weekend because Amy is gonna stay over at my place and play rock band and hang out with us before we go back to waterloo . (Amy is our lead singer, shes pretty good too she gets 100% of the notes quite often lol).
Tomorrow I'm plannin on grinding some more cash games, and playing lots while im running good so hopefully i make some more dolla billz.

bad run for the week
So the last week was pretty awful for me in that nothing ever worked despite playing very solid... my big hands just weren't holding up and I was getting outdrawn like no tomorrow! No worries though, despite being thoroughly raped by variance I am only down maybe 100-150 bucks in cash games, but thanks to bonus's and a few well timed wins in sngs im not down that much.
Hmm... lets see how bad things were goin for me... i think this week my:
1. KK lost about 2 times to straights, once to 74o lol
2. AA cracked by Q8o, 99
3. flopped the nuts straight vs a guy with 2 pair and he filled up on river
4. turned nuts but guy who flopped set fills up (im fine with that)
5. Ak loses to Q8 chasing gutshot
6. 2 pairs losing to random straights/gutshots etc
7. there was probably more but i cant remember
It was pretty rough.... but at least I can say that I wasnt playing horribly or going on tilt or anything during my sessions. Oh yeah, I limped with over 30+ small pocket pairs and no set yet... lol... im getting impatient!
I'm hoping that once my downswings over things will be better because things are pretty bad right now... I'm excited to play the Poker AFter Dark tourney on monday/wed to see if I can get into the final tournametn and beat out like another 200 ppl.... hopefully I can do it because I really want to play on PAD it would be a once in a lifetime opportunity (that and the last time they put on Ken Light on the show, MAN HES SO BAD and he wasted his opportunity).
Hopefully on Reading week its time to run good and own some peoples! I cant wait for reading week cuz my high school friend from Calgary will be stayin with me, so it sounds like we're gonna have a good time.

raked in the biggest pot i've seen!
LOL i just bad beated two guys so badly to rake in the biggest pot ever in online! about 130$ w0000t.
It started when I was dealt A8o when i posted my dead blind, everyone folded before me
and i checked and everyone else mucked. Sb completed, bb checked.
Flop: 867r.
Sb bets the pot of like 1.75. REally really strong, i was really quite worried because he was leading out against the two of us, and on top of that he was potting it. BB calls so im thinking he might have a draw and I decidd to call since it wasnt that big of a bet, and probably fold turn if sb fires again.
Turn: 8
well that changed my plans b/c now i have trip eights... sb fires REALLY WEAK, like 2$ or something weak like that. Now i know he isnt that strong but the problem is bb cold calls his bet, so now i was worried about bb instead of sb, so i raised it up to like 5 or 6$ trying to get the bb to go away if hes drawing, or if hes holding a monster he will jsut cold call the bet. sb calls, bb calls (now i know hes got a big hand, i actually was thinkin of layin it down on the river).
River: A !!!!!!
LOL i just runner runnered the stone cold nuts! Now i wasnt afraid of anything... they both check to me, i bet half the pot, sb calls, bb re-raises all in (exactly what i like!) i push and sb calls (he probably had a 8 or bottom 2 pair before the 8 popped up, horrible call by him) and i win a massive pot!!!
let me check what they actually had.

Bad weekend gone good!
Welll this weekend started off pretty bad, i was working all week on my cs 349 assignment and basically never played all week except once (i really need to get time to play, but i was so into my cs assignment that i didnt really feel like it lol)...
anyway after my assignment was done on Sat, i wanted to play, but i was really really rusty again and i was making really bad reads/calls and making really bad plays in general. It seemed like NOTHING worked for me on saturday, i played like 3 18 person sngs where i usually always place top 3, and i busted out early in ALL of them. And they were pretty bad beats too like KK losing to 74 to this big newb. AA losing to A7... etc.... i was pretty grumpy that Saturday because nothing was working for me and on top of that i was playing really bad. I ran one HUGE bluff against a TA guy with JJ when I knew he had KK or AA, and on the river he was soooo close to folding but finally called when I played it like i had a huge flush. oh wells. I ended up losing over 100 bucks throughout the day and I was pretty angry about it. However after taking a break for the evening and watching the flames game I decided to play again on Sunday and I must say once i got my 'groove' back, the Sunday went very very well.
There was two hands that was quite amusing so i thought i'd post about it.
First hand I picked up 88, and i think i limped utg with it tryin to set mine becuz the table was playin super loose and callin all raises, so i didnt want to play OOP. 3 callsers behind me including a guy we'll say his name is Neo (its somethin like that). flop is QJ2dd. checked all around. turn is a non diamond low card. I decide to fire out. everyone mucks except Neo who just calls. river is a blank non diamond. I check to him giving him a chance to bluff at the pot. he insta pot's it and i was like in my head what an idiot. I call and his obvious busted draws no good. So now i know this guys a big newb and will try to bluff on the river with nothing. However just like daniel negraneau said, a bluff isnt some bet you throw out there you gotta 'sell' the idea that you have a hand and he played it so obvious that he had a draw then fired a big bullet on the river??? wtf makes no sense!
Anyway, then hand #2 comes up like 20 minutes later, I get AQo in the bb. 4 limpers (including Neo) sb completes and i decide to check. Flop is KTJdd givin me the stone cold nuts!! I check with so many people to act behind me i was thinkin someones gonna fire. Nope i was wrong. everyone including Neo checks. turn is a low non diamond. I pot it there because well, i dont want to give no free cards no more. Everyone folds except Neo. river is a non diamond. LOL i knew he would bluff the river if i checked to him, so i checked to him and he insta potted again LOL, i instacalled it cuz i wanted to see his cards and he had 72dd.... gg idiot i got you again! Anyways after my cash game sessions, I ended up making back the money I lost Saturday (and honestly i shouldnt of lost that money in the first place, sigh) plus a little gravy. So all in all the weekend was an interesting one. I really need to get more playing time because i do really well when i'm on top of my game and my radar is workin well but stupid school keeps blocking up all my time!
In other news amys macbook broke lol, she needs a new harddrive which really sucks and now shes using my desktop so I had to multi table on my small laptop screen (and my eyes are quite sore haha), oh wells it should be fixed soon i hope... it was funny because jo was like 'i cant believe my crappy toshiba outlasted your mac ' lol =P lets jsut hope its a manufacturers defect with their Harddrives.
